CARTSS sponsors a wide range of campus activities, including thematic seminars, seed funds for interdisciplinary research, support for faculty research involving graduate and undergraduate students, evaluation research capacities, and teaching initiatives.

Interdisciplinary Initiatives

“Initiative on Society and the Environment.” CARTSS is the administrative home for a campus-wide initiative bringing together social scientists and humanists working on the social dimensions of environmental change. This emerging area of disciplinary-based social science research and teaching interests complements the environmental research strengths in the natural sciences on campus. With CARTSS support, a planning workshop will be held in Fall 2004 to refine the Initiative’s goals and structure. Professor Lori Hunter directs this initiative.
