Past Seminars

2002-2003: “Endangered Identities: Globalization, Modernity, and their Discontents.” Presentations from campus experts, visiting scholars from Columbia University , Princeton University , and Germany . In addition to public presentations, each speaker held a lunch session with graduate students from across social science disciplines.

2003-2004: “The Tocqueville Initiative.” CARTSS sponsored a year long series of seminars on issue associated with de Tocqueville, featuring CU faculty and graduate students. CARTSS contributes administrative support to the Tocqueville Initiative; Prof. Sven Steinmo, CARTSS Associate Director, directs this Initiative.

CARTSS also co-sponsors visiting speakers with other campus units, including the Center for Humanities and Arts, Linguistics, Geography, Communication, Anthropology.
